The President signed the Bipartisan Budget Act on February 9, 2018; this is a huge win for Telehealth providers changing guidelines for Telehealth delivery.

Significant Change…

The expansion of stroke telemedicine coverage, improving access for end-stage renal dialysis, expanding Medicare Advantage basic plan privileges for Telehealth and giving Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) the ability to expand the use of telehealth services.

Effective January 1, 2019 Medicare will reimburse for Telehealth Dialysis Services at Patient’s home and Independent Facilities…

Under section 50302 the geographic rule requirement will not apply for ESRD services provided by select providers. Individuals with End -Stage Renal Disease receiving home dialysis, will have a choice to receive monthly Telehealth ESRD -related oversight visits from their home. This change opens the door to Medicare allowing patients to remain in home to benefit from evolving technology.
